Contact/Teaching
As a teaching artist, Karina believes firmly in the connection between technique and artistry. Students who work with her will develop a firm grasp of vocal anatomy, as well as an understanding of how language, music history, and performance practice impact repertoire ranging from classical to rock to musical theater.
Karina works regularly as a clinician and guest artist teacher locally and across the United States. Karina has a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from Washington State University and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has also completed coursework at Shenandoah University’s Contemporary Commercial Music Institute.
Recently, Karina was featured as the soprano teaching artist with the Omaha Symphony Choral Collaborative, where she worked with singers from multiple high schools as they prepared to join the Omaha Symphony in singing excerpts from the Mozart Requiem. She also has performed at hundreds of schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Louisiana, and Texas as a soprano joining a variety of opera companies.
Karina’s students have been accepted to study music at programs such as Oklahoma City University, University of Kansas, Indiana University, Columbia College in Chicago, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and others. Her students have frequently been awarded best performer/soloist, participated in All-State choir, and perform locally as leading roles in school and community productions.
